256+ VBR LAME mp3
Vinyl rip & scans from Anthem AR 1 639
Takin' an easy out on this follow up since Moe was previously featured on two sizable posts a couple months back on Soundological and plenty of info on him is to be found there. In the comments, "Koff Drops" was requested and by chance I had come across this LP a few days earlier. Here you go Tim!
A somewhat hit and miss collection, jumping from the 50s ("Swinging Shepherd Blues") to his patchy work in the 70s and skipping over the late 60s LPs. Some of the better tracks from the albums covered don't make it to the Best Of which leans heavily on the most accessible material with pretty melodies (especially when they're familiar as with his adaptations of classical material). Some nice moments and a few good un-mined samples make it a worthwhile listen, especially for flute fans, but the lack of material from the dope Jubilee and Kama/Buddah labels (i.e., his recordings for US imprints) means it's far from a definitive Best Of.
1 Swinging Shepherd Blues
2 Overture To Spring
3 Theme From Orpheus
5 The Gig(ue)
6 Two Bourrées
7 Icicle Bells
8 Cavern Of The Mountain Trolls
9 Koff Drops
